The museum opened at Giza on 1 November 2025, the largest archaeological museum in the world at about half a million square metres. It displays all 5,398 objects from Tutankhamun's tomb in one place for the first time since Howard Carter removed them in the 1920s. Construction had begun in 2005 and was interrupted by a revolution, a currency collapse and a pandemic.
