The pledge to triple nuclear capacity by 2050, launched at COP28 and expanded through 2025, marked the reversal of a retreat that began at Three Mile Island and deepened after Fukushima. Japan restarted reactors, Sweden and the Netherlands reversed phase-outs, and the demand for uninterrupted power for data centres gave the argument a commercial driver it had lacked.
