Held at Belem from 10 to 21 November 2025, the first COP in the Amazon basin ended without the roadmap away from fossil fuels that some eighty countries had demanded, blocked by producer states. Delegates agreed to triple adaptation finance by 2035. A fire broke out in the venue and part of the access road had been cut through rainforest, which critics took as the summit in miniature.
