Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA and a leading figure of the American right, was killed by a single rifle shot while speaking at Utah Valley University on 10 September 2025. The killing was filmed from many angles and circulated instantly. It followed the attempts on Trump in 2024 and the killing of a Minnesota legislator in June 2025, in the worst run of American political violence in decades.
