Magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 earthquakes struck near Venezuela's Caribbean coast on 24 June 2026, toppling over a hundred buildings and causing losses in the billions. They hit a country still without a settled government six months after the capture of Maduro, and the response was complicated by the disputed authority of the interim administration.
