Launched 1 April 2026, Artemis II carried Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch and Jeremy Hansen on a ten-day free-return flight around the Moon, splashing down off San Diego on 10 April. They reached 252,756 miles from Earth, the greatest distance humans have travelled. Koch is the first woman and Glover the first Black astronaut to fly a lunar mission, and Hansen the first non-American to leave Earth orbit.
