India beat South Africa in Barbados on 29 June 2024, defending 176 after South Africa needed 30 from 30 with six wickets in hand. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli retired from the format immediately afterwards. It was India's first ICC trophy since 2013, in a sport followed by well over a billion people.
