Signed on 2 November 2022, the cessation of hostilities ended two years of fighting in northern Ethiopia in which starvation was used as a weapon and communications were cut for most of the war. Estimates of the dead run from 300,000 to 800,000, which would make it the deadliest conflict of the 21st century. It received a fraction of the coverage given to Ukraine over the same period.
