Britain's Rwanda scheme is ruled unlawful

The UK Supreme Court held unanimously on 15 November 2023 that removing asylum seekers to Rwanda risked refoulement. Parliament responded with an act declaring Rwanda safe as a matter of law, which the courts had not been asked to assess before; not a single person was removed under the policy, and it was cancelled in July 2024 having cost about 700 million pounds.
