On the night of 13 April 2024 Iran launched around 300 drones and missiles at Israel in reply to a strike on its consulate in Damascus. Israeli, American, British, French and Jordanian forces intercepted almost all of them. Decades of shadow war between the two states became open state-on-state exchange, a threshold crossed again in 2025 and 2026.
