The Triassic ends

A world rebuilt from near-total ruin is knocked down again — and the age of dinosaurs begins.

Era
Jurassic, Mesozoic

The period closes at 201.4 million years ago. In fifty million years life recovered from the worst catastrophe in its history and produced dinosaurs, pterosaurs, mammals, turtles, lizards, modern corals and the great marine reptiles. The extinction that ends it clears the field, and the Jurassic that follows is a world of forests, warm shallow seas and animals on a scale never seen before.
