Women win the vote

New Zealand grants women national voting rights in 1893, followed by Australia, Finland and Norway. Britain's militant suffragette campaign from 1903 involves arson, window-breaking, hunger strikes and force-feeding; partial suffrage arrives in 1918 and equal terms in 1928. The United States ratifies the Nineteenth Amendment in 1920, though in practice Black women in the South remain excluded for another forty-five years. France waits until 1944.
