Kenorland forms around 2.72 billion years ago from the accretion of Neoarchean cratons and a flood of newly created crust. Its core survives as the Canadian Shield and the Baltic Shield. Whether it was a single supercontinent or two or more separate landmasses is still argued from palaeomagnetic data, but the assembly itself — continents colliding on a global scale — is not in doubt.
