The Yana Rhinoceros Horn Site in northeastern Siberia, dated to about 32,000 years ago, sits well above the Arctic Circle and contains thousands of artefacts including mammoth ivory, worked rhinoceros horn and beads. Surviving there requires tailored clothing, reliable fire, storage and shelter. Genomes from Yana represent an Ancient North Siberian population that contributes to both later Siberians and the ancestors of Native Americans.
