Aristotle studies under Plato, tutors Alexander, and founds the Lyceum in 335 BCE. He writes on logic, physics, biology, ethics, politics, rhetoric and poetics, inventing formal logic outright and doing zoological fieldwork detailed enough that some of his marine observations were only confirmed in the nineteenth century. His authority later becomes so total in both Christian and Islamic scholarship that overturning his physics takes the Scientific Revolution.
